In the golden autumn of August, the fragrance of osmanthus fills the air! As this season of harvest approaches, batches of students are about to step onto university campuses, embarking on a new journey to pursue their dreams. To let our employees and local villagers share in the joy and care brought by the company’s growth, our firm held the 2018 “Golden Autumn Scholarship” award ceremony for Qinhuangdao Baigong Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. on the morning of August 24. The event was attended by Yang Guofu, Director of the Lulong County Education Bureau; Fang Hongtao, Deputy Town Mayor of Shimeng Town; leaders from the Lulong County Television Station; Zhang Shunchang, General Manager of Baigong Iron & Steel; Wang Yanzhao, Deputy Director of the Cultural Activity Center; Li Changsong, Head of the Human Resources and Enterprise Management Department; village-level cadres from the villages of Changshimen, Mengshimen, Tieshimen, and Zhangshimen in Shimeng Town; as well as all the scholarship recipients and their parents. Lulong County Television and the Publicity Department of the County Party Committee provided follow-up coverage.
The “Golden Autumn Education Assistance” program, initiated under the guidance of the Chairman and spearheaded by the Corporate Culture Activities Center, is a key initiative designed to help current employees and nearby villagers overcome the challenges of funding their children’s education. This year, the program provided financial support to a total of 67 children of eligible employees and local residents, with total funding exceeding RMB 300,000. Specifically, 46 undergraduate students received an initial grant of RMB 2,000 per student, followed by annual awards of RMB 1,000 per student for the remaining years of their degree; meanwhile, 21 junior college students were awarded an initial grant of RMB 1,000 each, with subsequent annual grants of RMB 1,000 per student for the remainder of their studies.
At the meeting, Zhang Shunchang, the company’s general manager, delivered an enthusiastic address, extending his warmest wishes to the students receiving financial assistance and urging them to transform Baigong Steel’s care and support into a powerful driving force to strive for excellence, serve their country, and give back to their hometowns and elders. He encouraged them to remain resilient and use knowledge to strengthen themselves, while cultivating a spirit of gratitude and becoming agents of compassion. Following this, the director of the Lulong County Education Bureau and the deputy mayor of Shimeng Town in Lulong County each delivered important remarks. The leaders first expressed their profound appreciation for the company’s generous efforts to support education, and conveyed their earnest hopes for the students. After the speeches, the attending officials presented scholarships to the aided students. At the event, student representatives and parent representatives took the floor in turn, expressing their heartfelt thanks for the company’s financial assistance and care, and paying high tribute to the company’s commitment to prioritizing education and giving back to society.
Since its inception in 2011, the company’s “Golden Autumn Education Assistance” program has been ongoing for eight years. Over this period, the company has invested a total of more than RMB 1.3 million, providing financial support to over 300 students who have gained admission to universities. Caring for employees and supporting education through donations have long been core principles guiding the company’s sustainable development.
